Munawar Parkar is a Landscape Engineer for Aspire Zone Sport in Doha, Qatar. Munawar looks after the maintenance of the public parks and landscaped areas. He also works with FIFA training pitches, which use both natural and artificial turf. Qatar is the site for 2022 FIFA World Cup. Munawar wanted to upgrade his skills and knowledge of sports turf maintenance as preparation. The Athletic Field Management Certificate Program with The Ohio State University offered the perfect distance learning opportunity for him to acquire the additional knowledge he desired.

Congratulations to Mary Maloney, Director of the Chadwick Arboretum and Learning Gardens, who was presented with an award at the 2015 Women and Philanthropy Awards Celebration at the Faculty Club on June 9. The awards ceremony celebrates grant and scholarship winners. The awards are made possbile by members of Women & Philanthropy. Mary was awarded $25,200 for the Green Roof Project. The Green Roof on Howlett Hall was installed in 2013. It is the first retrofit green roof at The Ohio State University.

Stephanie Verhoff was selected as one of two 2015 United Soybean Board Fellowship recipients. The United Soybean Board (USB) Fellowship promotes graduate education in the area of Plant Sciences, emphasizing the development of improved soybean varieties, understanding soybean genetics, and developing improved ways to grow and use soybeans. The fellowship provides a $25,000 annual stipend to the student for up to four years.
