Nathan Nordstedt wins Outstanding Graduate Student Leadership Award

On April 12, 2019 HCS graduate student Nathan Nordstedt was awarded the Outstanding Graduate/Professional Student Leadership Award from the Office of Student Life. The Outstanding Graduate /Professional Student Award is among the highest honors conferred to graduate and professional students. This award recognizes those who have made outstanding contributions in leadership and service outside their academic program. Students should also have demonstrated the ability to balance scholarship with their leadership and involvement.

HCS and CAPS graduate student wins 1st place at American Society of Plant Biologists Midwest Section Conference

The event is the American Society of Plant Biologists Midwest Section Conference that took place March 16th and 17th at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV.

Katie D’Amico-Willman's presentation was titled “Profiling Genome-Wide DNA Methylation in Identical Twin Almonds to Explore Aging and Non-Infectious Bud Failure” and focused on results from a whole-genome bisulfite sequencing experiment she performed in collaboration with UC Davis and Michigan State University to develop predictors of bud failure in almond. 

Dan Gillespie wins 1st place in the oral presentation competition at the Edward F. Hayes Graduate Research Forum

Dan Gillespie won 1st place in the oral presentation competition at the Edward F. Hayes Graduate Research Forum on March 1 at the Ohio Union. The Edward F. Hayes Graduate Research Forum showcases the innovative and exemplary research being conducted by Ohio State graduate students across the full range of graduate degree programs and facilitates fruitful exchanges between students, faculty, the administration, and the public. The Forum is co-sponsored by the Council of Graduate Students, the Graduate School, and the Office of Research.

Two HCS students selected to be CFAES Ambassadors

HCS sophomore Kendall Gilmore and freshman Cody Tegtmeier were selected as new members to the CFAES Amabassador team on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. CFAES Ambassadors are a team of 20 to 30 students, selected through an application and interview process, to represent the college in a variety of ways. The team members give prospective families tours of our college campus, answer questions and relate to visiting students. They also serve as liaisons to the Ohio State student body to help increase awareness around our college.
