I'm anticipating graduating Autumn 2027
Research Focus:
In short, my research asks the question — can applying co-composted biochar in an integrated crop-livestock system increase yield while also improving soil health? To answer this question we are collecting data on yield and quality of two years of vegetable crops and two years of grazed cover crops after applying co-composted biochar, and we are collecting soil and greenhouse gas samples all four years. Ultimately, our goal is to not only to analyze differences in yield between treatments, but also to analyze treatment effects for yield as a function of greenhouse gas emissions and soil health outcomes throughout all four years.
Why OSU?
HCS is the best! Truly, I've always felt supported by the faculty and staff here. Dr. Marilia Chiavegato joined the department shortly after I graduated with my MS, but I was able to connect with her through Greenacres Foundation in Cincinnati, OH. I've always been interested in integrated-crop livestock systems, and to do this research in her lab at OSU was an opportunity I couldn't pass up.
