Growing up on a family farm and an interest in science. I fell in love with weeds…they’re really good at being plants! Exciting current research We are setting up a long-term research project looking at the effects of cover crops and herbicide inputs on waterhemp populations and seedbank dynamics. Rough career path that brought you to OSU I graduated from OSU when several of our weed scientists were nearing retirement, and I’m currently covering some weed science teaching, extension and research duties. Industry international involvement Co-host for the War Against Weeds podcast. Favorite industry conference The Weed Science Society of America and North Central Weed Science Society conferences. I’ve been fortunate enough to attend each of these many times over the years and always enjoy catching up on the latest research and visiting with colleagues. What are you most excited about seeing happen in HCS this year I am excited to continue working with students (the next generation of farmers, educators, and researchers) in the department as well as farmers around the state - in my new role here! In addition to lecturing & extension work, I'm very active in research. What do you do in your free time In my free time I enjoy being outdoors, especially gardening and hiking, reading, and spending time with friends, family, and my dog. Want to know more?
