Was interested in agriculture and production of staple foods. I guess that my graduate education and advisor steered me to become a scientist in the field of grain/food science. Exciting current research Milling and baking quality improvement of soft wheat and their extended uses; and development of germplasms carrying improved functional and agronomic characteristics. Rough career path that brought you to OSU Worked for Washington State University as an assistant/associate professor for 13 years before joining the USDA-ARS Soft Wheat Quality Laboratory in 2013 as the Director/Lead Scientist, and later the Research Leader of the USDA-ARS Corn, Soybean & Wheat Quality Research Unit. Have been an Adjunct Associate Professor with the HCS-OSU since 2014. Industry international involvement Currently involved in an International Cooperative Research Project with the Rural Development Administration-Korea as the PI. Favorite industry conference Cereals & Grains Association Annual Meeting; Institute of Food Science Meeting What are you most excited about seeing happen in HCS this year Increased social activities and personal interactions.
