I played a lot of golf growing up and I love biology. When I found out that I could have a career that brought both of these together, it was seemed like a perfect match. Exciting current research My primary research interests revolve around turfgrass response to environmental cues and stresses, with most attention paid to responses to light. I am most interested in turfgrass perception and acclimation to alterations to spectral light quality due to foliar shade and using this information to select and breed for shade tolerant turfgrasses. Beyond shade, I am also interested in the interactions between light and other stresses, such as the role of high-intensity light stress on cold tolerance and cold acclimation in a diverse range of turfgrass species and cultivars. Rough career path that brought you to OSU After graduating from Ohio State with my PhD I had a position as a post-doctoral researcher in the Turfrgass Breeding Program at the University of Minnesota. I was in this position for almost 5-years; it was eye opening for me and this is where I learned how to truly develop my research and leadership skills.
