My father was the high school baseball coach in White Hall, AR, a small town with only about 5,000 people. Like many other baseball coaches in small towns, he also assumed the role of groundskeeper for the baseball field. To spend time with him after school, on weekends, or during the summer, I would go to the baseball field with him while he performed maintenance practices. From there, I became enamored with working on baseball fields. My father would even tell you that I spent more time working on the field than playing on it during my final high school years. Exciting current research Stay tuned for more updates, but current research includes screening turfgrass cultivars for reduced input requirements from fertilizer, water, and mowing. Rough career path that brought you to OSU I grew up in a family that loved baseball, which sparked my interest in sports turf and the turfgrass management industry. After working in the sports turf industry as an undergraduate student, I decided to attend graduate school and never looked back. Industry international involvement None currently, but I look forward to attending the International Turfgrass Society Conference in Japan in 2025. Favorite industry conference As my roots are in sports turf, I enjoy the Sports Field Management Association Conference every year. I also love attending the annual Crop Science meetings, which allows me to remain abreast of turfgrass science research and interact with friends and colleagues from across the country. What are you most excited about seeing happen in HCS this year Getting to know the HCS faculty! What do you do in your free time Away from work, I enjoy spending time with my dog, Brady. He is VERY active and ensures I exercise regularly. I also enjoy cooking, traveling, and attending sporting events. Want to know more? Check out my X or Ohio State Blog!
